Early Years and Move to Dubai

Debbie Cope grew up in Ireland, where she nurtured an early love for travel and adventure. In the early 1990s, she moved to Dubai and joined Emirates Airline as part of the cabin crew. Her work with the airline allowed her to travel the world, meet people from different cultures, and develop strong communication skills that later shaped her approach to business. Over time, she moved into customer affairs, where she handled complex issues and learned to build trust through clear communication and empathy.

During her time with Emirates, she met her husband, a captain for the airline. Together they raised a family, blending their lives with his two children from a previous relationship and their two children together. Family became a central part of her life, a value she has carried into her business leadership.

Stepping Into Real Estate

In the early 2000s, Debbie decided to take on a new challenge. She left aviation and entered Dubai’s property market just as the city was opening up to freehold ownership. This was a defining moment for the region, with property deals happening at unprecedented speed. Debbie joined companies like The Real Estate Specialists and Milford Real Estate, where she gained first-hand experience during a period of rapid growth.

She worked long hours, handled hundreds of client calls daily, and witnessed properties being sold and flipped within hours. This intense environment taught her the importance of integrity and clear guidance in an evolving market. It was here that she identified a gap, the need for a real estate agency built on trust, transparency, and personal service.

A Battle That Changed Everything

In 2004, Debbie faced one of the toughest moments of her life. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and traveled to London for a nine-hour surgery. Even while recovering in her hospital bed, she closed a property deal by phone the next day. Her determination during this period became the foundation of her future business. Within two months, she was back in Dubai and made a personal promise to build something meaningful.

That same year, she founded House Hunters Real Estate. She started the company from her garage in Al Sufouh with a modest deposit and a strong vision. The early days were hands-on, with Debbie personally meeting clients and selling villas in communities like Arabian Ranches. Her honest approach quickly earned trust and word-of-mouth referrals.

Building House Hunters Real Estate

House Hunters grew steadily under Debbie’s leadership. The agency specialized in villa communities such as Arabian Ranches, Victory Heights, and Motor City. At a time when many companies focused on new developments, Debbie focused on secondary sales homes that were already built and ready for families. This strategy helped the company stay resilient during market fluctuations, including the 2008 financial crisis.

Today, House Hunters operates with a team of around 40 professionals, including property consultants, managers, and support staff. Debbie’s children, Alannah and Jordan, also play key roles in the business, helping maintain the company’s strong family-driven culture. The agency now offers sales, rentals, property management, and investment advice, making it one of the most trusted names in Dubai’s villa communities.

Leadership and Recognition

Debbie Cope leads with a hands-on style. She remains closely involved in daily operations, from client discussions to key business decisions. Her leadership emphasizes values like integrity, persistence, knowledge, and teamwork. These principles shape the way her team works with clients, ensuring every interaction feels personal and transparent.

In September 2024, Finance World Magazine recognized her as one of the “Top 50 Real Estate Pioneers.” This honor celebrated her two decades of impact in Dubai’s property sector. It marked a milestone in her journey from a small startup to an award-winning agency that continues to thrive in a competitive market.

A Personal Approach to Business

For Debbie, real estate is more than just transactions, it’s about relationships. She has always believed that clients should be treated like family. This belief is reflected in the company’s high client retention rate and its reputation for honesty. Agents at House Hunters tend to stay for several years, allowing them to build deep local knowledge and long-term relationships with homeowners and investors.

The company has built its name particularly in villa communities along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, including Dubai Silicon Oasis and Al Barari. House Hunters also handles selected off-plan projects, expanding its portfolio while staying true to its villa community focus.

Life Beyond Business

Debbie Cope is not just a business leader; she’s also a devoted family woman and a breast cancer survivor who uses her story to inspire others. She often speaks about early detection and encourages people to take their health seriously. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she openly shares her journey, hoping to make a difference for others facing similar battles.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the beach, renovating homes, and working on interior designs. She has a passion for transforming spaces, which aligns closely with her professional world. Her admiration for strong women like Mary Robinson, Angelina Jolie, and Malala Yousafzai reflects her values of courage, resilience, and compassion.

A Lasting Legacy in Dubai Real Estate

With more than 30 years of life in Dubai, Debbie has witnessed the city’s transformation firsthand. She has navigated industry highs and lows, guided her team through economic shifts, and remained committed to putting clients first. Her leadership has turned House Hunters into a trusted name in villa real estate, known for personal service and community expertise.

Debbie believes the future of Dubai’s real estate lies in ready, well-maintained homes. Her team continues to adapt, ensuring they stay ahead of market trends while maintaining their core values. Her story is not just about business success but also about resilience, family, and building a legacy through integrity.
