Weyay Bank was launched in 2021 in Kuwait City as Kuwait’s first fully digital bank, created specifically for the younger generation. The bank was founded under the leadership of AAmir Fadel, who envisioned a seamless, accessible, and modern banking platform designed to meet the digital lifestyle of Kuwait’s youth. Recognizing the challenges young people faced with traditional banking, Fadel aimed to empower them with a convenient, secure, and entirely digital financial experience.

AAmir Fadel and his team partnered with the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) to leverage its expertise and reputation, ensuring strong security and banking infrastructure behind Weyay. Through this strategic backing, Weyay offers innovative services while maintaining trust and reliability for its users.

Innovative Services Tailored to Youth

Weyay Bank’s core offering revolves around a user-friendly mobile app that enables customers aged 15 and above to open accounts quickly using just their Civil ID or Kuwait Mobile ID and a smartphone. This streamlined onboarding eliminates paperwork and branch visits, making banking instant and hassle-free. Users can personalize their cards with color choices and use them immediately, even before receiving a physical card.

The bank actively promotes financial literacy and independence. One notable initiative is the “Jeel” account, designed for children aged 8 to 14. This service introduces young users to money management with parental supervision via app controls, allowing them to learn saving and spending habits early in a safe environment.

Weyay also offers a full suite of services through the app: real-time money transfers, digital loan applications with tracking, savings pots, budget insights, and more. These features provide a comprehensive banking experience integrated naturally into the day-to-day lives of young Kuwaitis.

Recognition and Impact

Since its launch, Weyay Bank has gained rapid popularity and industry recognition. It won the Most Innovative App for Young People award in 2024 and was honored as Kuwait’s Best Digital Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards for Excellence. These accolades reflect the bank’s success in addressing the unique needs of its audience through cutting-edge technology and customer-centric services.

Customer adoption has been strong, with many young Kuwaitis appreciating the simplicity, speed, and security Weyay offers. The bank has not only made banking accessible but helped cultivate better financial habits among youth, contributing to long-term financial well-being.

Future Outlook and Vision

Weyay Bank’s future is committed to continual innovation, aiming to expand its services and enhance the app with new features that anticipate the evolving financial needs of Kuwait’s youth. AAmir Fadel envisions Weyay as a catalyst for the country’s digital banking transformation, helping future generations gain greater control and confidence with their finances.

By fostering financial literacy, offering digital convenience, and embracing youth-centric design, Weyay Bank is positioned to maintain its leadership as Kuwait’s premier digital bank. It exemplifies how technology can transform traditional sectors, making banking more inclusive and accessible for the next generation.

The Road Ahead

Weyay Bank is a pioneering force in Kuwait’s financial sector. Built under the visionary leadership of AAmir Fadel and supported by NBK’s legacy, it offers a fresh, digital-only banking experience for Kuwait’s youth.

Through innovative services, multiple awards, and a strong vision for the future, Weyay continues to empower young Kuwaitis to take charge of their financial journey confidently and independently. This digital-first approach positions Weyay as a vital part of Kuwait’s evolving banking landscape.
